Reflecting back on the Opera we realized what an amazing opportunity this truly was although our feet were incredibly sore after standing for so long. Overall, the performance was magnificent regardless of our poor vantage point with respect to the stage. Based on this experience we highly recommend purchasing tickets which allow for sitting and direct views of the stage.
Considering, the first half of the tour has passed further reflection is required to relate the information acquired to the globalization process. In reaching this objective we were provided with the unique opportunity to communicate with delegates from OPEC and the Canadian Trade Commission. The representatives imparted their knowledge and provided us with industry-relevant career advice which we all appreciated, especially from the Canadian Trade Commission Office.
The second lecture provided by UNEP was focused on the European Union environmental policies with an emphasis on the Carpathian Mountains. The UNEP representatives argued that climate action is the most difficult “Sustainable Development Goal” to achieve due to bureaucratic processes and the persistence of consumer behaviour. Another major concern mentioned during the UNEP presentation related to plastic waste in the environment. Coincidently, this related to our later tour of the Ottakringer Brewery. The brewery has removed plastic from its product packaging process, contributing indirectly to helping the United Nations achieve its sustainable development goals. What do you think is the most important sustainable development goal of the United Nations?
Currently, en route to Budapest with a stop in Bratislava for a city tour. Stay tuned.

The biggest difficulty is figuring out which is the most important sustainable goal of out the UN 17 sustainable goals. We personally think that they are all equally important, but there are a couple that harder to achieve then others. As the UNEP speaker stated in their opinion the Climate action is one of the harder ones to achieve. The reason being is having to deal with the politically incorrect governments that make it difficult for the UN to conduct testing on the environment. The UN speaker also stated that most of the UN sustainable goal are interlinked, meaning that each goal can affect the other goals on the list.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly, if we had to choose the most important UN sustainable goal it would be goal number 13; climate action. The reason for this is it one of the harder ones to achieve. Additionally, it is important to have a healthy environment because if we keep destroying our environment to the point of irreparable conditions there isn’t much point of the other goals. Also if this goal is our main focus, it correlates with goal number 7 and 15: life on land and getting sustainable energy. This would decrease the impact of our global environmental footprint.
